About the Role
The Resource Manager is responsible for assigning the right resources to the right client at the right time, while balancing and optimizing employee growth, client results, and business metrics. The Resource Manager will anticipate needs and work with the business to ensure matters are staffed and the bench is minimized in order to maximize utilization. He/she will have deep knowledge of the skills of the resources in the Technology practice as well as the skills required by Technology projects (including Information Governance, Digital Forensics and e-discovery engagements). The Resource Manager will meet with staff regularly to ensure he/she understands their growth needs and project preferences as well as to set expectations regarding projects, and skill demand, and possible opportunities. This role is hybrid and requires an in-office presence of 2 days/week.
What You’ll Do
- Work with the business to identify and define staffing needs and identify most appropriate personnel to fulfill those needs
- Provide analysis and maintain a steady pulse around key metrics for the business such as availability, utilization and identify issues and trends
- Develop, own, and manage an industry-standard resource and capacity management process for FTI Technology’s consulting function
- Work with practice leadership to develop project-specific skill standards to guide resource planning and project staffing requirements
- Work with practice leadership to integrate project staffing requirements into late-stage sales opportunities and impending matters
- Develop and manage capacity and demand management reporting capabilities
- Provide weekly summary of newly closed and upcoming matters including staffing assignments to business leaders
- Maintain communication with sales team/business developers re pipeline including upcoming opportunities/matters
- Actively manage bench and work with Functional Leads and Client leads to identify possible opportunities for personnel
- Meet regularly with personnel to ensure he/she understands their growth needs, skill development and project preferences
- Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders focused on accelerating the development of our people
- Encourage resource sharing across functions, groups, offices, regions etc.
- Promote the understanding of firm economics and achieve retention, utilization, workload balance, diversity initiatives, and broad-base experience targets
- Meet with Functional Leads frequently to ensure staffing needs, utilization potential, and shortages and surpluses are proactively identified
- Maintain knowledge of current and emerging human capital technology trends and experience innovating with new human capital technology tools

In this role, you will acquire and maintain a deep knowledge of skills and experience of personnel, as well as skills needed for projects. The Resource Manager has the opportunity to work with practice leads and gain a breadth of knowledge within the industry.
What You Will Need To Succeed
Basic Qualifications
- BS or BA college degree required (a technical discipline or related experience is sometimes an advantage)
- 3+ years of post-graduate combined professional experience in personnel demand planning, forecasting, and reporting
- Proficiency using Windows and related software such as Microsoft business products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
- Flexibility to work evening/weekends as needed when urgent projects require staffing
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; this position does not provide visa sponsorship
- This role requires travel to other FTI offices, as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Excellent understanding of professional services staffing processes
- Experience in professional services industry, especially risk and data management or eDiscovery related
- Ability to build rapport and gain trust with all levels of personnel, and high emotional intelligence
- Strong metrics-focused with ability to use analytics to solve problems and develop solutions
- Strong leadership, communication, and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently in fast-paced, multi-task environment
